A photo exhibition entitled «Petroglyphs: valuable images of the ancient era» held at «Aport Mall West» in Almaty, organized by the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve «Issyk».
The exhibition aimed to introduce visitors to the way of life, daily practices and beliefs of ancient peoples through petroglyphs, presenting them as an important historical source. Petroglyphs are valuable cultural and archaeological artefacts that have survived from ancient times. They reflect the worldview, the cognitive abilities and aesthetic values of ancient peoples, which served as a means of communication long before writing, emerged and developed.
The exhibition presents photographs and prints of recently discovered petroglyphs from Zhetysu — the Ridges Ketpen, Kuraily and Kyzemshek. The display is arranged in chronological order and covers the period from the bronze age to the middle ages. The works depict hunting scenes, ritual dances, household items, images of animals, various signs and symbols, horsemen with banners, as well as camel drivers and caravan leaders.
To enhance the attractiveness of the exhibition, modern multimedia solutions were used. QR codes attached to each photo provide visitors with information in kazakh, russian, and english. This system has made the perception of historical material more accessible and understandable to a wide audience. The photo exhibition runs from 20th September to 20th October at the following address: Almaty, Tashkentski Highway 17k, «Aport Mall West».
The team of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve «Issyk» expresses sincere gratitude to the management and staff of «Aport Mall West» for their support in promoting cultural heritage.
