Exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kemel Akishev

On November 22, 2024, the V-Esik Readings International Scientific and Practical Conference was held at the Esik State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kemel Akishev, one of the founders of the Kazakh school of archaeology, a researcher of the ancient and medieval history of Kazakhstan, and an outstanding archaeologist and scientist.

As part of the conference, a memorial hall dedicated to K. Akishev and an exhibition “Captain of the Archaeology” were opened.

The exhibition presented K. Akishev’s desk, as well as the scientist’s personal tools for archaeological research and excavations, shelves for artifacts and books. The guests also saw artifacts found in the excavations of Oryrar and the Issyk burial mound, the monograph “Issyk Kurgan”, manuscripts, scientific works and an archaeological map of Kazakhstan compiled by the scientist in 1960.

The event was attended by famous scientists and specialists in the field of museum affairs, heads of the department for the protection of cultural heritage monuments, and media representatives.

Everyone can visit the hall and exhibition dedicated to the scientist-archaeologist K. Akishev in the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Esik”.
